In the first case a 10 year old boy who developed Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) after a series of vaccinations between 2003 and 2005. They said that the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine more specifically. His parents said that he “suffered a Vaccine Table Injury, namely, an encephalopathy” due to the MMR vaccination in December 2003.
In 2003 the boy was 2 years old and the same day as the vaccination he started shaking uncontrollably. In January, he developed measle like symptoms. He was diagnosed with “high fever, skin rash, tremors and lethargy.” He also developed a fever over 104 degrees. His parents expressed concerns of behavior problems, non-responsiveness and language loss. Later on he was diagnosed with ASD.
A 15 month girl started having severe reactions after receiving DTaP vaccine. She had a 105.7 temperature, started staring blankly and developing seizures. She had developed a measle like rash. She started doing repetitive behaviors including arm flapping and spinning. A neurologist diagnosed her with “encephalopathy characterized by speech delay and probable global development delay.”
In both cases the children were awarded several million dollars. In the boy’s case the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) conceded the case and paid damages. In the little girls case they settled with the HHS.
